Today, the House is considering H.R. 3639, the Expedited CARD Reform for Consumers Act to speed up the credit card reforms. This bill will move up the effective date for nearly all of the credit card reforms to December 1, 2009 and marks another step forward in bringing consumers badly-needed relief. If abusive practices by the credit card industry had not accelerated with passage of the law, there would be no need to move up the implementation date.

  • The interest rate on one of my cards went up almost 25% and they had the gall to make it RETROACTIVE. I just closed out the card and will pay off the balance at my previous rate. I also applied for and received a new card from another bank who gave me my previous APR. Fight these assholes. Thank you Rep. Maloney!!!!!

  • According to the CBO the lowest cost family non-group public option plan under the Pelosi's bill would cost $15,000 in 2016. The CBO is making a prediction based upon todays dollar and not the dollar value in 2016. Don't want purchase healthcare then there are criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.Hope you like the Hope & Change! Mmmmm, Mmmmm, Mmmm.

    Note: But you know, by 2016 a loaf of bread is going to cost $69.95.

  • Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD that the speaker will not allow the final language of the health care to be posted online for 72 hours before bringing the bill to a vote on the House floor, despite her September 24 statement that she was "absolutely" committed to doing so.

  • great comment friend !

    corporatism=fascism

  • Monsters get so very hungry when they see their kill being taken from them. Time to outlaw corporations altogether. They are unaccountable.

    I once watched a Fed meeting (loosers all) and these changes were stopped because the banks complained it would cut into their profits. They are lapdogs for corporations who have robbed us all.
