CaliforniaGir1, St. Dorothy’s telephoned parents every day (even today); parents nagged family and friends; and, students spoke at church and handed out fliers. In short, we have strong community support for education (public and private) in Glendora, and the St. Dorothy’s family worked very hard to win this. Great job Bruins!
Very well stated juststrollin. Californiagir1 you think voting should equal the number of times the video was viewed, which is incorrect. St Dorothy's followed the rules and took the advice on the Promo Tips tab and got the word out to their on-line community. The school also encourgaged the students, parents and staff to vote daily. The real crime would be they not win after all the hard work they did to get the vote out. As Sherlock Holmes would say "Elementary my dear Californiagir1"
I wouldn't want to make this too complex for you, but I could offer something simple by way of explanation. I have voted every day since I received the request for support (about 10 or more times) as the rules allow. I have never once looked at the video...and had I watched the video even once, I certainly wouldn't watch it every time I voted. If that is still too complex for you, try this. If only 1,000 people voted 20 times that would produce 20,000 votes.
@Peaches70380 Your comment wasnt very nice , why cant you just be happy for us ! Our community has worked very hard to to make this possible for our children remember they are our nations future.
St. Dorothy families make great sacrifices (especially in these hard economic times) to send their children to a CATHOLIC school because they believe in a CATHOLIC education. The teachers and staff are qualified and credentialed and choose to teach at this wonderful school even though they would make more money in the public school system. St. Dorothy is in desperate need of new technology and that is why the community has come together to help the school get connected.
Just because the kids are in PRIVATE school, it doesn't mean that the families have money. Tuition goes to pay for facitilities, teachers and curriculum, which is not funded at all by the government. And NO, the school does not require the kids to have laptops. That is why we are in need of the technology.
This is a PRIVATE school which means usually the parents are paying for the kids to go there. I know our local Catholic school gets plenty of money per student plus they require that you buy a certain laptop.
