Dry out a wet cell phone by taking out the battery and SIM card and placing all of the parts in a bag with uncooked rice for 24 to 48 hours. Avoid putting wet cell phones in the oven, as it may melt the plastic, and consider advice from the manager of a cell phone store in this free video on cell phones.

Expert: Geordie Andulakis
Bio: Geordie Andurlakis is the store manager at an AT&T Spring cell phone store.

  • It's all a crapshoot really. It may or may not work. The phone will never be the same. Corrosion will set in and potential shorting and componet malfunctions and failures will happen. Potential fire hazard from excessive current draw when charging and shock hazard. Best to use insurance or get a new phone.

  • I hate my iPhone right now I just wanna kill it -_-

  • @xDlaughterDx 2 hours for a completely soaked phone is no where near enough. Water is much harder to evaporate out of enclosed spaces - give it 48 hours or more. Good luck :)
