A live recitation of shaykh Ahmed bin Ali al Ajmy leading taraweeh prayers in Saudi Arabia during this Ramadaan 2011 / 1432Hijri. Recitation is from surah Maryam

Please note: Ahmed bin Ali al Ajmy is a haafidh of Quraan and has been leading taraweeh prayers since the age of 17. Allaah knows best why he is reading from a mushaf but it is permissible to do so.

"Praise be to Allaah.

There is nothing wrong with reading from the Mus-haf during night prayers in Ramadaan, because this will make the members of the congregation hear all of the Qur'aan. The Qur'aan and Sunnah indicate that Qur'aan should be recited in prayer, whether it is from the Mus-haf or from memory. It was proven that 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) told her freed slave Dhakwaan to lead her in praying qiyaam in Ramadaan, and he used to read from the Mus-haf. Al-Bukhaari mentioned this in his Saheeh...

  • Mushaf is the Quran in the book, (the whole book with the quran)

  • @salamualaykum

    Salaam

can you refrence/show which book you got the hadith from (i.e sahih bukhari,muslim,dawood,etc.etc.)

i am also confused because i thought that holding mushaf for the entire taraweeh is not correct.

so please do share where you got the info.

    Salaam.

  • Yaa Shaykhah,...where do you get so many awesome videos from !!?

  • @me1203 Salamu alaykum, no this is not forbidden, and the proof is that Aisha (r) ordered her slave to pray as the Imam for her while reading from the mushaf. Only Imam Abu Hanifa did not allow this. However, this should only be done in Nafila prayers and memorizing the Quran is of course better!

  • he has a mushaf in his hand. is that forbidden?

  • salam alaykoum.

Thanks for sharing Br. Cheikh Ajmy 's got a lovely voice mashaallah. But I have never made a taraweeh very fast like this only if it was the small sourats.
