The Dutch health care system has no public option but instead there's a government ministry that sets and enforces strict guidelines on what private insurance companies can and cannot do. The abuses by US insurance companies are avoided. All citizens are required by law to purchase health insurance. There is much here for the Americans to copy. The Dutch system ranks highest in an European survey on health care satisfaction. 8-10-2009 broadcast.

  • So bizarre America spends more and gets less. There are over 40 million without any coverage, it is absurd.

  • Their doctors make much less than ours. [ My two brothers-in-laws there make much less than my two cousins here in U.S.; and they all DOCTORS].

AMA is the main obstacle here, protecting wealth of members above all else.

  • @FRSFreeStateES exactly

  • @irishgodfatherchris

Socialism is a diverse Political Ideology

  • @FRSFreeStateES to me and my comrades Democratic Socialism means something different because we spend a lot of our time looking out for minorities and so forth, so its evolved into something completely different to what our comrades in Sweden, Norway and indeed the rest of Continental Europe to what they would call Socialism

  • @irishgodfatherchris

Well that would be Classical Socialism where government runs at least one aspect of the economy. But then there's Democratic Socialism like in Sweden. Where you have a mix of Public and Private Services in the economy. Socialize Medicine is where government runs the Healthcare System or at least part of it.

  • @FRSFreeStateES socialised medicine from my countries and my personal perspective is when not only do the government run a public healthcare system but they also own the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture the drugs for the system.

  • @irishgodfatherchris

And how's that different from Socialize Medicine?

  • @FRSFreeStateES UHC is ja public healthcare system paid for by taxes, the private does not cease even if its compulsory to have in our case Medicare

  • @irishgodfatherchris

Well if UHC is not Socialized Medicine, then what would you call it?
