While most of us are looking forward to a fun family Christmas, many of the UK's thousands of failed asylum seekers face Christmas alone and homeless. Follow us on twitter at http://twitter.com/itn_xmas
As I always point out, I cannot feel sorry for these people who clearly pass by other safe countries to make it to the UK!! Desperate, persecuted people would stop wherever they could be safe!! Why come all this way??? Sorry, nothing will change my mind on that score!
@fazzy107 Indeed, Enlish workers should be given priority. However, you would be suprised to know how much more gratefull Ayslum seekers are to work here. The complexity surrounding this topic is more to do with the financial impact, which the state needs to take into account, since they have an impact on unemployment in this country and wage levels. So, Whilst econmist's are counting their monies, Boaz Trust are embracing destitutes and rebuilding their shattered lives.
i think we should get people from our own country with homes and jobs before we help them i mean they come into our country take our jobs what about that factory in hull that closed down made almost 2000 ENGLISH workes jobles then it opens back up with no hard working english people all from other lands im not saying they shouldt be allowd over here im just saying OUR people come 1st not some person half way around the world but thats only my point of view
...They are not allowed to work (so they are not taking your jobs!) they are not allowed to claim benefits, and they are not given council housing. Many live in real fear of being returned to their home countries to face torture and imprisonment, having fled from truly awful situations. How would you feel in their shoes?
Even if you believe that the home office is infallible and always makes the right decisions, which is highly questionable, the fact is that these people are refused asylum but not immediately deported. Indeed, many are left waiting for years or cannot even get travel documents to return as their countries will not have them back and they are left stateless. Meanwhile they are left destitute and homeless...
sumtimes tho people from places like sudan have no choice, and if they were to go back there they'd get shot on sight(this isn't always the case, but it dus happen to sum ppl)
you should be more accepting of them, not pushing them away
and no, i'm not saying i'm perfect or a saint myself(or anything simlar)
@beccabumps Wow, where do YOU live? That accent is far too familiar to me!! :@

If the government can't remove people, they should be allowed to work to support themselves. Everyone's human after all.
