It always seemed when Capriati lost big matches that she could actually have won them had she made a few different decisions. If this sounds like a banality, it's not: most players don't win the big matches simply because they can't, which is not Capriati's case.
In summary, it seems the problem grosso modo is Capriati never tended to go for the killer winner soon and fast enough, unlike opponents like Serena, Sharapova, Pierce, Davenport, Hingis (when she could) and soforth.
Sometimes Serena runs so fast... kinda scary. What an athlete.
