I rode over the bridge into western Iowa, for what seems to be the billionth time in my life. I'm amazed at how much the landscape has changed since my other video just two weeks ago ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_M0zWq7whw )
The berm that once protected a homestead and portions of the DeSoto wildlife refuge gave way late last week. This allowed for the expansion of water from the river's edge, over the land for miles. It's even worse from the air.
To be in Blair, to be around people from here and surrounding areas, flooding is all anyone talks about. They do it in hushed tones and with downtrodden faces. It is what it is, and there's nothing we can do about it except be there for one another.
