This is the final version of the end-over-end worm from previous videos. I've been letting it evolve a bit more here and there. Although the movement doesn't look very different, it's about 40% faster than the last end-over-end worm that was recorded.

The video shows the previous end-over-end worm (the dark one) together with the latest one. The original worm (not shown in this video) was evolved on the PC of youtube user Fromzon. Subsequent generations ran on my own PC.

  • This is possibly the coolest thing I have ever seen.

  • @axeld93 Thanks a lot. This is still my favorite creature, even after all this time.

  • @kjlg74 Do you know the parameters used to select for an end-over-end worm?

  • @axeld93 Unfortunately, you can't really guide the process with anything close to that much precision. I've seen a creature very much like this worm evolve independently, so it's not a total lucky fluke - but based on the numbers, the chances are maybe 1 in 100 or worse that you would end up producing one. If you check my channel, you can find a video (I think it's called "free worms") where you can download this specific creature, along with a settings file that was used when it was evolved.

  • *applause*

  • @TheSonOfDumb Thanks! It's still my favorite creature, even after all this time.

  • creatures like this should be sold to video game makers

  • I've got a similar one evolving except mine is flatish and rolls and unrolls :D

  • Why couldn't spore been like this?

  • I was mad when the website said it is only available for windows. Whenever I open a creature thing, this pops up: "There is no default application specified to open the document____"

The creator of this program should put this on the Mac app store.

Does anyone know a link to another program like this?

  • whats this program called?

  • @kjlg74 It's perfected flap-jumping. Amazing.

  • Worm orgy XD

  • That's extremely elegant.

  • That is so fucking cool. If that thing is 9 feet tall, I'd hate to have to run from it...
