For an LDS audience, particularly those in California. This is designed to be used to inspire those who are hesitant to be an activist for Proposition 8. Be firm in the faith.
Christ is God perfect in every way, Christians are people imperfect in every way. Ghandi needed to put his faith in Jesus, not look for the short comings to his followers. Ghandi was a great man and still needed the saving grace of Christ. As do I as do you.
How blessed we are to live in a day when Prophets and Apostles again walk the earth. President Monson is called and ordained of God. I know that with all my heart. Nobody can watch this short clip and deny my simple testimony of truth. Come, learn, and listen to a Prophets voice. You will be filled with truth, light and the knowledge of God.
You evidently do not know anything about Christ's stance on homosexual behavior, and Gandhi's words surely do not have anything to do with homosexuality. So much for your out-of-context quote.
Gay marriages creating a moral decline in Europe? That is benign in comparison to the divorce rate in the LDS Church. Patriarchal authority is misused. Look at the cases of child abuse, teen pregnancies, suicides and pshychiatric maldies in Utah. $10m could have been better used to strengthen Mormon's own marriage. Monson talks a lot of sugar, but his substance is sweet-n-low. Revolutions have always brought down repression. As Mormons know: the determination of the underdog succeeds--gays will
This from a guy who lived every day of his life enjoying freedoms won by Christian missionaries in India. The only reason they weren't executing widows in Ghandi's day is because of Christian missionary William Carey. Ghandi was a hypocrite who thought it was evil to free the Jews from the Holocaust because we had to take up arms to do so.
What then is special about marriage? Is it still a union between a man and woman and God? Is it something worth fighting for? Is it permanent? Should I care about my marriage if it just something convenient to obtain a tax credit?
Gay marriage is not a cause of divorce, but it degrades what marriage means.
