The Mirage is truly a magnificient airplane..I hope that Piper will consider a retrofit when the Lycoming IE2 350 is finally certified.Performance and payload should increase.Certainly pilot load will be dramatically reduced with the single lever system.
@kimiles1 They're both great planes, but if you're going to be flying the airplane on 3+ hour legs with the seats full the pressurization system will be invaluable. In the real world, when the Matrix is loaded with passengers, it's going to be flying low to avoid making passengers use oxygen. A Matrix pilot when flying alone sure won't mind using oxygen to get up into the flight levels.
1212lb sure. The Matrix is 1389. That's a whole extra person, making it a real 6-seater. It's basically a Mirage without all the added weight of the pressurization system. Sure, you have to be on O2 to get high, but I'd say it's worth it to get the extra person/bag/fuel. Just my 2¢; they're all great aircraft. I'd take the $100K savings AND get extra payload to boot. Same performance, way fewer hassles. But I'm a private owner; a corporate fleet would prefer the pressurized tube, I'm sure...
My grandad has a mirage and my dad has a saratoga and they share a lake renegade. by far the mirage is my favorite. im 12 and in 15 years i want at least a seneca the i will upgrade to a malibu. it is soooo comfortable. i flew from nashville tn to ft myers florida with my cousin in it with only one stop in georgia. best flight ever
A Meridian is a Malibu; but you're right; this isn't a Meridian. This is a Mirage. The models are the Matrix, which is unpressurized (the better of the reciprocal models), the Mirage, which is reciprocal and pressurized (not much useful load however), and the turbine Meridian. Mmmm. That one's nice...
@kimiles1 uhhh that would be reciprocating, not reciprocal
