Museum of America host Mannie Gentile gets down and dirty in this exploration of the world of Blacksmithing. This thirty minute video has been edited into two 10 minute (Youtube friendly) segments. By the time this is over you'll want to break out the LAVA soap and hit the shower!

  • im having trouble findng an anvil anyone know where i can get one?

  • MrDragonblue,

You can buy them new (google "anvils") and they aren't cheap or you might be able to find one at an antique or flea market.

Generally though, anvils I've seen at antique/junk stores are cracked, rounded-over, or otherwise generally pretty worn out. If you're just starting out, try to get your hands on a one-food length of railroad rail.

If smithing is something you find you want to get serious about, you may want to just purchase a very good, new anvil.

    Best of luck!

  • Get into carpentry quick!

Sorry not tips, just remember that just cause it's black doesn't mean it's cooled off.
