Bad News 93% of Americans have BPA in their blood and urine. I can't find this article on their web site or on the Internet so here it is word for word.

The article came from Better Homes & Gardens April 2010 in the Better Health section page 243. A reader asked Do I need to steer clear of BISPHENOL - A in food containers?
BISPHENOL - A (BPA) is a chemical used to make the poly carbonate plastic in many food containers, canned good linings, baby formula, and other household items. The Centers for Disease Control estimates that BPA is now in the blood or urine of 93% of Americans. It belongs to a group of compounds known as "endocrine disrupters", which studies have linked to breast cancer, obesity, attention deficit disorder, and abnormal hormonal and genital development in infants, The Food and Drug Administration, while continuing to pursue studies, believes there is "reason for some concern" over the chemicals effects on fetuses and children. "I would avoid it" says Dr. Robert Lawrence of the John Hopkins School of Public Health. "Enough research suggests there are risks". To reduce your family's exposure, he advises store and heat food in glass or ceramic containers, and opt for a stainless steel water bottle.

So try to eat mainly fresh organic fruits and vegetables avoid as many canned foods and plastics as you can. I know some things only come that way unfortunately. So try to limit your exposure. The FDA is dragging their feet and won't protect us. I guess we all have to drop dead before they do something. Nobody is looking out for us anymore. We're on our own. Anchor Hocking Pyrex and Target Bed and Bath Eddie Bauer & Amazon.com & others Thank God have responded to the people's needs in a positive way & now carry BPA free containers.

And take your old containers and either recycle them or re-purpose them in your house for other uses other than food.

In May 2010 the President’s Cancer Panel’s (PCP) reported that American “public officials have ‘grossly underestimated’ the likelihood that environmental contaminants trigger a large proportion of the cancers diagnosed.”

Are you calling all these people liars. Better Homes and Gardens Aol News Dr. Robert Lawrence of the John Hopkins School of Public Health. "Enough research suggests there are risks". Frederick Vom Saal, a University of Missouri-Columbia professor, states that "the FDA is ignoring all of this research. Americans have been at risk.""I do not understand why the government doesn't listen to what scientists have found," Angel Nadal of the Spanish Biomedical Research Network in Diabetes

  • No it hasnt. This is bad science. Non of this is provable. this is just media hype. all contries that banned it said they were banning it because of public consern. not because of some science saying it is bad.

  • @GrannySays

EXCELLENT. Purchase the new BPA free containers for food & Re purpose your old containers from your grandma I'm sure their sentimental for other uses.

  • Good work. I just found the Anchor Hocking containers today. I have a couple of glass refrigerator food containers that were my grandmothers and they are like cast iron. Just keep on keeping on. They aren't good for food storage in a frost free fridge though.
