Arma 1 actually has a fantastic Afghanistan map based on Waziristan. It's not available for Arma2, but there's an expansion pack for Arma2 coming out that should have some Afghani-based maps.
FYI, the story isn't that great with Armed Assault games. Really, you buy it for the editor, the community mods and the multiplayer. The stories and gameplay are very diferent from COD games. But Arma is definitely unique.

Project reality has very good tracers... its a mod for BF2 check it out if you want its really fun... and its realistic

I have the game but don't know how to use the AC130. i dont see it in the mission editor

@jonnyfilmboy Actually, Armed Assault is not the title of the series, it is the subtitle of ARMA 1. ARMA 2 has no subtitle. This is a common misinterpretation.

hey guyz ive downloaded the ac-130 addon, but in the game, the ac-130 dunt have its weapons, its just a plain c-130 although it says ac-130, can any1 helpp?

@50cent329 Read the README.TXT file. It should have all of the information you need on how to get the addon running.

Man I knew ArmA 2 was a hell of a game but I didn't know you can have such good stuff there!!

@gtamodman122 There's a new AC-130 addon which blows this one away. It's much easier to implement on missions, the AI can control it, and the interface is much closer to the COD: Modern Warfare interface.

@WillKillForName Check out armaholic. They have the addon on there. Do a search for LDL and it will be the third thing that comes up. It's made by LurchiDerLurch. It's really quite awesome.
