The nearest I can see is that both songs follow a formula. Aside from that, the melodies are totally different. It's power pop. How different is one song going to sound from the other when it's all the same kind of music?

This feud is ridiculous, and if Madonna had an ounce of maturity, she wouldn't feed the fire. She has had a blockbuster career that has spanned decades. She should be happy to inspire people and gracefully step aside to let others have their moment as well.

I don't get it??? two TOTALLY different songs. Different meaning, speed, beats, tones, pitch, everything? I guess everyone is talking about how the chorus is the same, but I hear madonna singing low... and gaga singing high... I'm confused. it sounds like playing two songs at one time.

even IF "BORN THIS WAY" sounds like or even copied from "EXPRESS YOURSELF" (WHICH ITS NOT), "BORN THIS WAY" is way better........

okay, isn't it cheating if u lower the pitch of one of the songs??? they're both in the same key, so obviously some of the same notes will be hit. and i agree with ultimatedorito, madonna should stop being so aloof about gaga. two years ago she was so supportive of gaga, then all of a sudden madonna started to get more and more distant. i found that to be odd and pretty snooty.

Actually Lady Gaga herself said that her song is influent by Madonna. How can people not hear similarity? I'm no musician and I hear it. I like Lady Gaga but artists DO get influent by other artists all the time

@josephruggeri yeah, you're right. I don't know why I typed that. It just rolled off with the rest of the things I was listing. But yeah, the chord progression is obviously different. If it weren't, it would almost literally be the same song.
