I visited Haiti May of 2010 and what I saw was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. I felt overwhelmed by what I had seen and closed my heart. This project, "Forgetting Haiti", is an attempt to examine the closed heart and be open to investigating the heartbreak that is there when something overwhelms me, through painting photographs and poetry. THe series of portraits painted by artist, Olivia Pendergast, Shown at Blue Heron Art Gallery Vashon Island, Washington July 1-28 2011
