The best musical Sondheim ever wrote so true and so grotesque!!
-
He sings real nice-like.

I really do not like this style at all. It takes away the fact that it's a musical. It looks to me like a marching band "trying" to be a musical. Wonderful voices.
-
When the actors play the instruments, it completely ruins the illusion for me...I don't like this version at all.

What a very talented cast and what an intelligent production! Sadly I'm old enough to remember the original production and, oh, how I miss the big tap number that came at this point. A marching band is no substitute for a dozen pairs of tap shoes.

@GrammarKing1 They weren't part of the married duets though that's the point He's coming to grips with his loneliness at that point. Despite all these friends, they all seem to have something he doesn't even if it's not perfect like Paul says " A person like Bob doesn't have the good things, and he doesn't have the bad things. But he doesn't have the good things"

Stephen Sondheim's a genius lyricist, composer.I never get tired of hearing this upbeat piece.I always feel happier after listening to it....Thanks Stephen for the wonderful show tunes and thanks MrMistoffelees666 for the superb video....

i love joannes face, everyones solo is relly show offy and fancy and shes got a triangle shes like "shut up!"
I think that's what I like about this production. You only notice the instruments if you fixate on them. Everytime you watch it you notice something you didn't see before.

Bobby has an instrument, the kazoo, but it is symbolism because at the part where every person steps forward and plays a little solo they always play it in conjunction with their partner. Bobby has no one to respond to his solo because he is the only one there not married.
