Gateway SX2800-01 intel core 2 quad, very sleek, fits in a briefcase! This computer redefines building a gaming rig for under $1,000. The stock system itself is quite amazing, while there's still room for heavy upgrades if your willing to do some slight modifying.

  • Things that heat up this system the most., from hottest to coolest.

1.HDD( hard drive disk gets extremely hotter than other components! its the wd6400aaks western digital model to blame!!!

2.power supply unit( because of the way its designed(horizontal), man it gets HOT!

3.onboard intel gpu( this adds to the mess only more by lack of fan on the heatsink, but intel doesnt care what graphics junk they sell you

4.ram cards( the ones that come stock have no heatsinks or special

  • Cooling apparatuses,

5.cpu ( suprisingly if kept clean enough this runs pretty cool, not bad for the q8200 quad core!

    6. onboard sound and network(im going to put these last because through all the testing these ended up being cooler operating chips than i thought

so those are main components that heat this up. before purchasing something as elegant as this machine i would suggest you be as elegant as it and be willing to add some art to it by modding it. who wants stock stuff anyways?

  • @DigitalDemolition i just wanna know how the hell you took out the dvd rom drive its Wtf I wanna slap the shit out of gateway

  • @abid172

I think I used a fine pliers to manually turn them cause the gap between the mount/screws is too narrow.

Alternatively you could use a mini philip's screw driver and attempt to get a lock on them & then manually turn them.

when you purchase a mini tower like this upgrading is limited, and even resorting to modding is limited. but since you don't want to mod you can improvise if your willing to take the side panel off and you can flip your dvd rom roack upside down so the hdd is on the Outside that will take it down some degrees id say about 5-10, if you got a extra long sata cable laying around and you use no-cd's wich you should! remove the dvd rom, flip the rack upside down and use The Cable on the hdd

  • @abid172 also i took off the front panel so the front metal chassis is exposed and its holes on the front, so the heat can escape., if you want it to cool off some more mount it about 2-3 inches up on a table laying flat. so the power supply units heat can disperse to the outside,.... removing the side and front panels also make it weigh a little bit less. i only put them back on when i go mobile. when you have some extra cash to spend sometime in the future get a 1+ terabyte WD green drive

  • @DigitalDemolition is ther anything you would reccomend me doing so it wont overheat

  • @DigitalDemolition im glad this is normal i just bought the exact same model for 400 used i have the same problem when ever i play a valve games css dods or l4d2 it gets hot and the fans are full out loud as hell is there anything i can do besides takin the hdd out im really looking forward to making this last i dont even touch my ps3 no more

  • @HARKON1995

it would be great for valve games, in fact the onboard video has pixel shader 3.0 so its concurrent with the latest valve releases. i believe it has p/s 4.0 also but its semi-broken. that with 4gb ram and a quad core would make you sit great with just about any game(except for physics intesive and shadow intesive games)although shadows can be taxing to any gpu even the latest nvidia.and ati cards

  • would this computer b good for valve games like gmod anf TF2?
