This is a 383 Chevy stroker motor that was going into an off-road pre-runner, here it is getting a low-stress break-in on my Simtester. The engine runs for about 40 minutes as I will typically see a 2-4 amp decrease in drive motor amperage and a 2-5 rpm increase. Both of these numbers represent a decrease in friction as the engine breaks-in.

  • HI can a 305 becom a 383 stroker my 305 is a TBI

  • @kearneytyrone - No, the bore on the 305 is too small, but you can put the 400 crank and make it a stroker.

  • @fiatnutz cool so do the 305 have to be homed for that

  • @kearneytyrone - If you the block needs to be machined oversize, yes and yes for a rering job as well.

  • It does, this gets get the pistons and rods in the right orientation and allows for cam initiation. You still have to do the 2000rpm run-in for 20-30 minutes when you install the engine. I find that engines start faster and easier when run on the Simtester, plus I can check for oil leaks.

  • i think thats a way to make sure you did the bearing right every motor i built and everyone that i know that builds a motor goes in a gets ran car or boat

  • Stupid music detracts from the sound of the running engine.

  • i heard 383s tend to over heat alot!! is that true or is it just a bad built one that does?

  • nice elevator music!!!

  • engine has a small oil leak.

  • @kearneytyrone I think the block would have to be notched for the 400 crank cause it will hit the walls

  • Why do you not close up the motor first and then simtest with it's own oiling system.

  • @fiatnutz o i love your show

  • @fiatnutz o i live your show
