Here I have BS Zelda, the Japan-exclusive SNES update to the original Legend of Zelda, running on my homebrew-enabled Wii.

This was one of the flagship titles for the Super Famicom add-on known as the Broadcast Satellaview, though the version being played is the hacked version with extra character sprites and no timer.

Additionally, various other hacks have been put into place to remove (and compensate for) the cumbersome Broadcast Satellaview features that the unaltered BS Zelda took advantage of. Basically, this version does not have any timer-specific events, separated episodic parts, etc., and is as close as possible to the general setup of the original NES game, while still keeping the various updates that BS Zelda implemented (reworked dungeons, overworld differences, and the like).

The game runs perfectly. Honestly, this would be a pretty cool game to show up on the Virtual Console at some point.

  • how do you do this ? ZeldaClassic ?

  • @DJ91990

You mean a Zelda game, where you actually play as the character every game is named after!? (I am not counting the CDI games since you can't consider those actual Zelda games).

Although I made a ROM edit/hack/whatever where you play as Zelda on the NES one, would be fun to play an actual game though.

  • You started off with 42 rupees.

    Awesome.

  • I think they should just remake the whole LoZ game with this style of graphics and release it on Virtual Console. I'd probably buy a Wii for that.

  • this looks awesome, is this available as a regular rom image?

  • You are playing the 3rd Quest version arn't you? I just beat that 100% (Red Ring, 18 Hearts, Fully Upgraded Weapons) it is fun. It is also more fun when you play as ZELDA and not LINK.

  • we need this for wii ware!

  • how'd u get this game onto hamebrew? help! i just installed my hb channel!

  • I'll note this to the BS Zelda Shrine.

Oddly enough, the MAP 2 ROM seems to have some compatibility issues that the MAP 1 ROM does not.
