And as election day edges nearer in Japan, some high profile candidates hit the polls a little early. Today the leader of the Democratic Party of Japan cast his ballot ahead of Sunday's big day.
Political leaders are usually allowed to vote ahead of the general election in Japan which is coming up on Sunday.
On Wednesday opposition party leader Yukio Hatoyama handed in his absentee ballot.
Prime Minister Taro Aso handed in his absentee ballot on Tuesday.
Hatoyama left the municipal offices beaming.
[Yukio Hatoyama, Leader, Democratic Party of Japan]:
"There are a lot of ways to vote, such as with absentee ballots or early votes, so I wish to see everyone get out there and vote. Everyone needs to experience the feeling of having your voice reflected in politics."
With his Party looking good for a runaway victory, Hatoyama has reason to be happy.
Newspaper polls indicate the main opposition party could win more than 300 of the 480 seats in parliament's lower house.
Asos Liberal Democratic Party or LPD, on the other hand, is struggling with voter frustrations over scandals and long-term uncertainties about the economy and social security.
A solid victory for the opposition Democrats would end a policy deadlock in parliament where they already control the less powerful upper chamber.
New challenges, such as how to finance mounting social security costs to care for a fast-aging population, lie ahead for the LPD.

The Japanese is capricious.
If he can't make a good effect in 9 month, he must be kicked out. The key person is Asanuma, trying to make small our bureaucracy. Old polititans can't controll our bureaucracy.
This party's main theme is to prevent arbitrary actions of the bureaucracy.

Do not be cheated. After half a year, he will get the recall done. It rose to power by his art of talking and charisma in the situation like Germany when Hitler appeared. His grandfather Ichiro was well known as a spy of the Soviet Union. We Japanese are well informed of the satan he who destroys Japan for China and Russia. Perhaps, Obama seems to be perceiving it.
