Three days after the rocking Blood Red Shoes concert, I took the train to Eindhoven for something completely different. On his 41st birthday, British singer-songwriter Tom McRae performed at the smaller stage of the Effenaar. He captivated the audience with his wonderful songs and a good sense of humour, especially in the second video I made. He made us cry, smile and occasionally laugh out loud. The best concert I've seen in 2010, so far.
McRae brought five great musicians as his band. The guy you see to the left playing various string instruments is Brian Wright, a good singer-songwriter himself, who was also support act on this evening.
Still having to use crutches because of an accident back in December, I sat on a high chair very close to the stage and recorded two songs. Ths sound quality doesn't completely do justice to McRae's voice, but it gets pretty close.
This is the first of two songs I recorded. Walking 2 Hawaii is on McRae's 2003 album Just Like Blood.

Seen him in Paris in October 2010, for the 10th anniversary of his career. I felt exactly what you describe. The guy is an artist... a real artist.
