  • The massive contrast in the Highest Rated Comments is hilarious.

  • This one definitely disturbed me more than Serbian Film. That one was sick for sure, crossing a line with the children, etc. But it was also way over the top and stylized to the point when it never truely hit me in the gut. Martyrs works on all levels. Great pacing, brutal story, nasty gore, believable performances. It actually made me cringe and almost look away some times, which is very rare for me, and I've seen me some messed up stuff. I rate this higher than High Tension and Inside.

  • i walked out of revolver because it was so bad

  • you forgot your glasses

  • the best movie ever made about nothing is RUBBER... the movie says you "leave, leave, dont watch more" all the time....

  • Who'da thunk it...relentless crystal clear images of torture appalls a human raised by considerate adults. Good.

If this sort of ghastliness doesn't make you abhore the films theme itself..ring the helpline now. If it does then read some books too..The Outsider or Crime and Punishment. You are not alone...

  • I loved Martyrs! But i cant watch it numerous times, because its just so draining. French Horror is really making inroads and leaving the rest of the world behind. Top review!

  • I have walked out of a theater before. Not because the film was hard to watch, but because I just hated every minute I had wasted on it up to that point. The movie was 'Captivity' and about halfway through it I stood up and proclaimed out loud to the 10 other people in theater: "This movie BLOWS! I'm leaving." Coincidentally, everyone else followed in my footsteps over the next few minutes.

  • Martyrs was just the usual tedious wallow in pain, sadism and depravity, distinguished only by this treatment being directed at women only.

True, it is about something - or rather, it THINKS it is about something, or it pretends to be about something - but that just adds a layer of self-congratulatory smugness to the whole tiresome proceeding.

At least Hostel was just a blood-splattered 'fun' romp for gorehounds.

At least Hostel didn't pretend to have religious-metaphysical 'significance'.

    Tripe

  • I saw Martyrs back like 2 (something) years ago and it wasnt all that great. I just liked Lucie so when she died i lost interest in the movie. Maybe i should she it again though.

  • I didn't wanna watch this film. Because in the end, I didn't get anything out of it, other than negativity, which I forced out of my mind soon after.

  • I understand why Mark walked out of Blue velvet but I don't think I would have. It probably depends when you see it and how old you are. I saw it aged 26 and I think this helped.
