The second test of a DIY induction heater based off of the design and instructions from RMCybernetics.
I was able to heat a small wrench to an orange glow (probably near 1400 degrees F). The wrench appears to give off a purple glow due to the camera's (lack of proper) IR filtering.
This was done using IRFB59N10DPBF mosfets.
IRF540ZPBF (STP30NF10 equivalent) mosfets were able to heat a small screwdriver, but one blew when I attempted to heat the wrench.
The capacitor bank is 4.2uf with about 100 amps (pulse rated). Power supply is 12v @ 30A. The operating frequency is about 142kHz.
Some things to do next are to decrease the frequency, increase the coil size, and securely attach the mosfets and capacitor bank (binder clips don't seems like they will last for very long).
I believe this circuit is basically a Royer oscillator.

What are you using for your choke coil (L2 in RMC's circuit)?
