Aviva (Norwich Union) cuts thousands of jobs but spends £9million on celebs

Insurer Aviva is launching one of the most expensive advertising campaigns ever to promote the demolition of the Norwich Union brand. The campaign is set to cost a staggering £9 million and features celebrities such as "Walter" Bruce Willis, Vincent Damon Furnier (a.k.a. Alice Cooper), Eleanor Nancy Gow (Elle Macpherson), Beatles drummer Ringo Starkey (Richard Starkey) and Dame Edna Everage (alter-ego of comedian Barry Humphries). Midland Bank successfully transformed itself into HSBC but the Post Office's attempt to adopt the name Consignia was widely ridiculed before they adopted the name Royal Mail Group. Norwich Union is cutting jobs and community ties such as Healthworks leisure centre at Pitheavlis on the outskirts of Perth. Despite a well publicised Save the Gym petition.
