In trying to decide what to get my young niece and nephew for Christmas this year, I learned that one of my niece's favorite books is "Go, Dog. Go!" by P.D. Eastman.

So I decided to enlist my family to create a video of the story.

You can watch this video in full HD at:

Initially, my kids (cool teen and tween that they are!) had to be dragged, bribed, coerced and basically strong-armed into helping out, but once we got going they seemed to enjoy themselves.

My wife, of course quite rightly, is quite certain that I'm nuts ... so she just came along for the ride. :-)

It was shot with an Canon HG10 camera. I used the internal microphone ... wanting to experiment. Consequently, the dialog audio isn't the best. Costumes are non-existent (I was too lazy even to cut out dog ears for us to wear). Editing (done in Final Cut Pro) was quick and dirty. Some parts of the sound track are off a bit.

I did the voice over with a Rode NT-1A microphone through an Apogee Duet into Logic Pro. (I really like the sounds I get thru the NT-1A, so I was pretty happy there.)

My daughter was kind enough to help out with the editing, so she gets credit for the more creative scenes (she drew the house; I drew the fish. Both done in Motion.)

This was really fun to do, and I learned a lot more about Final Cut Pro and Motion.

I just heard last night from my sister that my niece LOVES the video. Mission accomplished.

So here is "Go, Dog. Go!" with the story by P.D. Eastman. I certainly don't own the copyright to the story ... that remains with the owners. This is just a silly video version of the story ... posted for the enjoyment of kids both big and little everywhere!

I hope you enjoy it! Comments are always welcome.

Peace. :-)

  • DiamondLexis - What a GREAT idea! I'll add that to my "to to" list. Thanks for suggesting it.

  • You should add captions and subtitles to this video, especially for little kids watching this movie. It will help them to associate the picture to the words. Also for those who are viewing this video from other countries who can not understand english. Hope this help. Excellent video.
