  • It's just a pity that membership to the lute club starts at about $2K. Correct me if I am wrong. This is all an aside, however, to the fact that this is a charmeing rendition of this Dowland piece. I must get a lute now!

  • thanks so much for your comments. The Lute Society of America membership is $45 per year and the summer seminar (in cleveland this year) is around $450 --let me know if you need a link there are amazing faculty there

  • aww now I want to learn the lute... Your playing is awesome!!!! Im glad you're using it for God's glory.

  • Hi David, I think I replied to this comment before :) I'm sure you'd do great at lute if you chose to learn it :) Glad you liked the playing, and yes, may God be glorified through it :) God bless you.

  • What a pleasure to hear this piece played at such a delightful tempo. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talents with us. Please please give us more Renaissance music.

  • Thank you Rochelle. I'm glad you liked it. I will be posting more Renaissance music soon :) Blessings, Katherine

  • That was excellent! I really enjoyed listening to that. Everytime I hear one of you great lute players I want to run out and get started playing but I have so much time invested in cello I will stick with that :P

  • Bravo! Thanks for sharing.

  • Nice. Where did you get your lute from?

  • Very cool!!

  • plokiju, i wonder how you cannot rise above your choice to troll.

  • Yeah! Go girl - you're good!

I've battled with that piece for years and never played it as well.

  • You are very beautiful as well as your music.

  • Nice job. I thought I had my hands full with a 12-string guitar.

  • I think "almost" is the most essential word in the sentence :-)

  • thumb under means that after you stroke the string the thumb goes inside the palm of your right hand, this technic was used till the end of the 16th century, when lutes became with more courses (from 8 to 13 or 14 on the theorbo and archlute) the thumb went out (a bit like the classical guitar) also it is due to the positoin of the tute, early lute position was more parellel (15- 30 degrees approx.) to the floor later the lute was more like in 45 degrees approx. try those different positions.
