@IceChillWill If you have the disk, I'm sure you could.

@RyanKnowsTech Meaning that the issue is less common? Anyways apple will be releasing 10.7.2 in the next few weeks and most likely it will deal with the sound issue experienced by many users. From what I know Lion deprecated a lot of drivers for some computer models.

@WindowsPictures Only tried Lion... so it very well could be software. However, it's become significantly more sporadic.
-
@WindowsPictures I hope that's right! I've chosen to upgrade the machine anyhow at this point.

@RyanKnowsTech I was browsing through the apple forums and it seems that apple is aware of the problem and it seems to be software related. It seems that Apple's QC for this release was not good.

@RyanKnowsTech So you were having problems already. It seems that the issue is widespread on 13" MacBook Pro's there has been a lot of reports of this issue in the Apple forums. By any chance have you reinstalled snow leopard? If the sound works there, it means that you don't have a logic board issue.

@WindowsPictures No, same as before.
Hi Ryan I noticed you said that there is no way to have clean install of os x Lion. Actually it's pretty easy. I just did clean install,
you'll need to find content you downloaded from app store and burn it to dvd thru disk utility. one's you do it correctly than you have installation DVD.
Restart computer hold 'option' key choose start up from DVD get to format utility screen and you're done.
