So you need to create a scene where a gelatinous blob gets consumed by hungry insects or parasites. The perfect place to start is with Mayas nCloth and nParticle system and by creating particles that are attracted to an nCloth object you can get some fantastically creepy nEffects. There's some basic nPrinciples to understand when creating stuff with nCloth and nParticles, so in this nTutorial by Stuart Christensen, you will explore the various ways to make the nStuff interact to create super swell nEffects.

  • hey, sorry to bother you, but i really needed your help. i just wanted to know how can i get the shape of the mesh which is created by n cloth and a colider. and not have it animate. just as a static shape just like any other shape.

  • @myth123123 Check out the tutorial called Basic nCloth Dynamic Constraint and that should help you along the way.

  • thank you so much for putting so much times to make these videos. I have some question though... do you work professionally as a cgi artist ? and why do you like to spend so much time teaching others maya

  • @IWTBFOY Thanks for the nice words! I teach through You-Tube because there are people all over the world who do not have a formal educational outlet that offers CG courses or training. And in many places people cannot afford to go to school. And, I don't play video games so I use that time to teach and learn stuff myself. I'm a graphic artist and someday I will produce my own feature length movies using Maya. This stuff isn't easy so stay dedicated and never give up!

  • @deepfriedectoplasm -- Thanks very much... May God richly bless u. I really appreciate what u are doing for those of us who want to learn Maya but yet don't have money to go to school. I'm a beginner and would want to learn more from u. But, please do u only use MAC machines? Because i'm using windows now, thats what i was able to afford. And do u have a web site OR Are u on skype where i can reach u sometimes?

  • @jay1111882 Maya runs the same on both the Mac and Windows....some of the commands are a little different but you can look thos up in the help section. I don't have a skype account and I don't do facebook or social networking because I don't have the time. For the most part try and troubleshoot stuff as you go along because you will always have to think things through when working with Maya. Maya loves troubleshooters! All the best to you!

  • @LiVinGxBlaD3 Yes and no. For that type of reaction you may need 3 to4 separate particle effects that need to be controlled, the blood could be a fluid effect (blobby/surface) and fluids=$rendertime, the nCloth surface needs to be filled from the inside and assigned a "tearable surface" and the event editor would come into play to help the outer particles to die off as the bloody stuff becomes visible. But, anythings possible with Maya and a lot of rendertime. Hope that helps!
