You know, you look at these guys and other bands of the day and they all look like polite young men you would take home to daddy. Today's bands look like you are ready to take them to jail and book them.

I care.

@Wacokid48 that is awesome - thanks for sharing

@tolanstout What's actually happening here is the studio version is being played (common practice then and now for TV appearances; you'll notice of course the horns are nowhere to be found), and he is singing the lead live over that (much rarer for the time). Yes, the "double-track" effect is a bit off-putting here, since the vocals on the original single were not double-tracked. It was likely the sound engineer was asleep at the wheel when the cameras rolled; I doubt the result was deliberate.

Ah yes, A wonderful song that takes me back , This song was played all the time in high school. A great song to sing along to, especially with that someone special.
for a few minutes, I am a young fellow again!!

love this song..The Buckingham's guitar player and I were in the same study class at Lane Tech in 1965. The rest of the group were from Shurz High School..our bitter rivals! how was that? Chicago in the 60's was the bomb...great groups...great friends..great times...but mostly...great music ! North Syde forever!

What a super classic wonderful song about love. The horns in the background marks the Buckingham's sound. "The girl of your dreams standing there all alone, can't you see your hurting me, don't you care?", So well written and performed, Yep, you are right, not to be repeated today. Oh well......

I was in Chicago's Old Town in 1968 and had to duck into "The Empourium" to dodge many tornadoes going through the town and suburbs. I remember crawling into the store on my chest because of the wind and debris flying around outside. We all went back into a safer place and wouldn't ya know it. The Buckingham's were shopping in that store. I got to meet these guys. Yes they were very big in Chicago. Susan was one of my favorites...ya see I was in love with a girl named Susan at the time.
