Boris Johnson launches Story of London Festival

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson, Professor Robert Winston and Royal Institution Chairman Sir Richard Sykes officially launched the Story of London festival.

Put together by the Mayor in partnership with a range of organisations, this year's festival runs from 1-10 October and celebrates London's rich history as a centre for world-beating ideas, invention and pioneers. Over 100 events are taking place across the capital, looking at the discoveries and inventions of the past, but also looking ahead to the challenges -- and possible solutions -- as the 21st century progresses.
