1959 Duofoil Mark III runabout, black hull / yellow topside, Johnson 25 HP (vintage Gator Tilt-A-Trailer). Bought for a song as a basket case. Knew nothing about the boat until I bought it, only that I saw it's potential.
I found a red and white Herters in Texas (on the web) with clear bubble windshields. I was able to contact the manufacturer and have some tinted ones made for mine. Although they deviate from the original design, the windshield(s) proportions look correct with the Mark III having less exaggerated fins, typical of the earlier Flying Fish.
The boat has highly polished aluminum castings, good sound system, lights, speedo and bilge - seat cushions being made.
It's a great fun boat, handles well and throws up a dramatic wall of water on both sides off the bow. I always get a thumbs up on the lake. "Bat Boat" is the first thing to come out of people's mouths when they see it.
@ChadHebert They are actually a pair of windshields. I found a guy in Texas selling his early Flying Fish that had clear windshields. He gave me a contact for his source who was an acrylic supplier, also in Texas. I figured since the molds were already made, it would be easy to make me a pair - only mine have a dark tint. I'm out of town for a couple weeks, I will forward the info when I return.
