@MrJohanasBilderberg until the 70's most american states would parole offenders after 7-15 years and the crime rates were not any higher than they are now. it proves harsher sentences has no deterrent, and there are some murderers like allen mcduffy who murder when coming out of prison, but those cases are talked about because they are exceptional. most homicides are not premeditated and are usually crimes of passion, any human in fact will murder if the person gets agitated enough.

@MrJohanasBilderberg several american states recently started paroling people for marijuana, petty theft and other offenders serving life within a year because stephen harper was one of the last countries giving americans resources for the recession but even he got fed up of the idea that all the canadian money was just for american prisons, so now the americans realised they can't afford to lock people up for life for every little thing that happens.
-
@MrJohanasBilderberg point is, there is a limit on how "tough" the system can be. many americans keep wanting tough on crime laws because they think countries are laughing at them for being too soft in fact they're laughing because most countries agree they are being too tough. in canada marijuana for example means a 420 dollar fine, it is only jailable by up to 2 years if you sell marijuana while in new york, arizona, nevada and louisiana being caught with it means 25 years to life.

@MrJohanasBilderberg ha, i'm not a communist, i am quite the opposite, i am probably more anti-communist than capitalists. i believe in lower taxes to expand businesses, but i also believe in a militarist type of society, and think political correctness should be eliminated since we all know how much corruption that has cost in the last 50 years, i believe in saving money up for long term needs rather than short term, i don't believe in global warming, abortions or animal cruelty or cloning.

You missed the entire point of putting people who commit felonies into prison.
You are either hopeless or a commie.
-
@MrJohanasBilderberg so in other words you pretty much agreed with me that the video was a propaganda video, so what are you exactly arguing to me at this point about?
-
That is why it it called prison instead of happy fun time place.
Angola is a maximum security prison for a reason.
-
@jamesleeland1 meh i think this video was just propaganda to make angola look like a good prison, i read behind the scenes and in reality it is still a slave labour prison. for example, in the prison, prisoners must keep the golf course, pools and other "fun" activities in order, but they themselves can't use it, it is for the staff to keep themselves entertained if they are stuck spending a weekend at the prison.
Their brains were washed with the blood of Christ. If you had to go to prison, who would you rather be locked up with?

@boneunowproductions some people have been in prison longer than that. indonesia use to have maximum 80 year prison sentences, i guess because they didn't think anyone would ever complete it and it represented an average life span, then they used life sentences when a guy went to prison at 17 and came out at 97 and 5 years later the guy is still alive and has even participated in 2 senior marathons and written novels and articles about his life in prison.
