why , thats not even the way it use to be . its way of life, and to make money . trouble is now we dont fish enough to keep the balance in tact . government thinks no fishing is better , not true , the fishing runs need to be harvested now more than ever . too many fish , over spawning , killing more fish .fishing part of the eco-system . just dont get it .

@olsonjacob1 pacific and atlantic herring don't bite lures, they're filter feeders. but shad(a species of carnivorous herring) do take baits and are a salt water/fresh water fish, like salmon.

@flamedrag18 Really? because I make bank on selling flutters (a lure I make and sell) and they are used to catch them for bait or dinner. I can catch around 50 in an hour (if they are running), 15 on average. Let me ask ya, do you feel like the stupid one now? Your words not mine.

@comeonwhatthefuck I don't know what government are closing fishing, but it doesn't matter. After enough fish are gone, boats can't make money, and sit in dock. At that point, it's hard to blame it on someone else, when they are gone, they are gone. World wide fish stocks are WAY down, by everyone's estimate, boats rust in dock. Foreign guys, and a lot of poachers don't give a rip even if the "government shuts it down" they just fish away. Ocean is too big to catch em.

@yankeesrule7430 well, they're not the ones controlling the quotas, are they? they take what the government is willing to give them, if the fisheries collapse, the fishermen can't be blamed since it's the scientists and the government that are setting the quotas and telling the fishermen what to do, it's like blaming a soldier for following a superior's orders, you can't.
