Part of my cooper union hometest

Design a clock(device)that redefines the concept of time.

The most interesting aspects of time I found in the exploration of this prompt were its cyclic and systematic qualities. This led me to want to create a new cycle of time, one created by the removal of time's most important function, its ability to retain memories of past and present events. The absence of this important function not only complemented "Visceral" which explored an absence of form, but also allowed me to work in the absence of the idea of memories, a concept which is quietly intertwined with many of my pieces. The video illustrates the cycle created by this absence, one of discovery and rediscovery without any true progress or defined objective. Basic actions of planting, cleaning, throwing, and carrying have lost their impacts, leaving only faint impressions on their environment.

  • Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.

It was shot on the (frozen) great sacandaga lake in upstate New York.
