i did this and my friend thought i was trying to race -_-

In Europe if you're in a real road with real traffic you can only overtake on the left, no matter if you're driving a car or just cycling: you're just controlling a vehicle. Different rules could apply if you're on a cycle path. Of course, if you're in the UK left changes for right and viceversa.

MY GOD!!! imagine how many times mark cavendish must say "passing/on your left/on you right"!!!!!

"On your left" gets old.. I perfer to sing Bicycle out-ot-tune...

@shearenergy Agree. I always hate it when somebody says "on your left" like some kind of proclamation. Just pass.

why would you distract another solo rider with "on your left", or "passing" rather than passing him on the left with out audio hesitation and rather than a click of a down shift lever. That should suffice well enuff, without the slower rider looking over his shoulder a tripping you up passing.
Not to mention those grove'n to the ear buds. dahhh, stupid...

@chiefshakenbake What the hell are you talking about.
In Countries such as the UK and Australia, it is better to pass on the right, because we drive or ride on the left..

do not forget to check over your shoulder for other riders or cars before passing. also, check to see that you have enough space after passing before taking back the lane.
