THE ICE STORM, 2009.....It was many things...hauntingly beautiful and devastating. Thousands of homes were without power for many, many days. Children got to go sledding and eat foot long icicles. Some people died from the cold and power outage. We lost lots of trees and heated with wood...and so it goes....

the trees are fine thanks to their big healthy root systems. they'll grow back bigger and better....except for the apple tree that fell completely over.....but it is still alive!

....after a time of decay comes the turning point. the transformation of the old becomes easy. the old is discarded (to the brush pile) and the new is introduced, both measures accord with the time; therefore no harm results...
