  • Socialist? The European Union is widely agreed to be one of the most liberal projects ever undertaken. It's based on the principle of constructing a gigantic common market to increase trade and prosperity...that's as far away from socialist as you can come!

  • É lá, grande liberal!!!! Tchi!!!!

  • I real life Alan Cockpiss

  • graham watson is a complete idiot

  • @mastgrr One might also say that the essence of the EU is peace. Pacifism and the solidarity between peoples are two main pillars of traditional socialism. The EU's structural and cohesion funds represent the biggest solidarity project ever launced in Europe's history.

  • a parliament group where co-exist liberal socialists (italian radicals), nationalists (spanish CiU and PNV) and extremely pro-free market people (not the case of Watson and his Lib Dems)

  • He seems like a great guy, but what is his stance on Islam?

  • How about bringing aome of that democracy to the EU before we start thinking about exporting it to China?

  • I agree. I am pro-capitalist only if we understand it as free market in the views of Austrian school of economics, Chicago boys or ar least Freiburg's school. In my opinion they follow the principles of A. Smith in the best possible way. But if we regard as capitalism this corporate fascism that we can see in USA, then I consider myself anti-capitalist as much as anti-socialist ;)

The major reason I dislike EU is over-regulated bureacracy and too much political corectness.

  • Nope. Free market = liberalism. It's pretty basic.

  • You must be kidding me! ;)
