(excerpt from live show) Jimmy Z says, "Our set was at 9:30 in the morning and we followed two short acoustic sets by Sting and George Michael, so the crowd was ready for a full electric band. I'd been on a pub-crawl terror for two weeks in London so I was feeling a little wobbly but the adrenaline rush of playing to 100,000 crazed fans seemed to help my aches and pains. I thought at one moment during the harp solo I was going on a bit too long but then I said to myself, " ...oh what the hell ...one more!" http://www.ztribe.com

  • Thanks for putting this vid on...I thought it was lost forever....honestly I always rated this solo as THE greatest crossharp solo ever and there are some riffs Jimmy does which I find to this day incredible difficult. Amazing solo simply out of this world!!!!

  • I've meet this guy, and I just have to say, what a wonderful person!

  • on the part "La da di da di da di da,, the black woman is singing is she the person singing on the album or is it lennox"? and who does the background solo when the part "must be talking to an angel" is heard later on in the song?

  • @mon2mer2

Steve is playing a Chromatic...so different sound and playing technique altogether....though Steve's version on the Chromatic is equal to Jimmy's on the Cross.

  • Folks be sure to put on some diapers or sit on a toilet before watching this. It's too late for me =P

  • How many times can you enjoy that? Simply forever

  • He hit this solo absolutley spot on. After hearing other harmonica solos on this song this one has it all. Definition, a sense of purpose and direction A beginning, middle and end. PERFECT.

  • jimmy zavala is incredible, and such a handsome man, wow!

  • One of the finest blues harp solo's ever!!

  • it´s on an sampler called: "Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute 1988"

Pretty rare, video-tapes has been merchandized in those days, don´t know about (regular & official) CDs. But ask for 1988 Mandelas 7oth tribute. There is some more great stuff!
