While the military and intelligence officials keep saying that the war is unwinnable and that it itself increases the threat of terrorism, what plausible evidence has anybody supplied for the incessantly chanted mantra about the "dire consequences of failure"? And empty talking points about "emboldening the enemy" do NOT count as evidence!

A 1300 year old religious feud is not going to be able to be resolved by America wishing it so, or at our gunpoint. The options given here are a fast failure or a slow one, but failure nonetheless. This is indeed a sad situation Bush has forced upon the American people.
