Thank you, sir. you are doing us all a great service. You just earned a subscriber!
The 900 died out on me once while shooting an event, so what I did now is buy a battery pack from Pixel HK so that I can get more from the 900 before it dies again, it also helps with the recharging time. I am keen on getting the 700, although I suspect that the 700 is not going to be enough and will be slow on events, it is going be a nice backup flash for the troublesome 900.

Customer Reviews:
This bike is amazingly space saving as my basement already had a treadmill, elliptical and bench press. A very good value but why pay 50 bucks more at amazon when the manufacturer sells this for 799 (including tax and shipping) from their own website.Thought amazon will make it more competitive with regards to pricing.
I purchased the ...

Why purchase this, we use Metz they have never been a problem or an issue. We use a Hammer 45 would not consider using anything that performs with such problems!

Hi everyone, There is a setting in the SB-900 menu, press okay a view seconds, go 4 down, now you can choose the spread of the light and 3 options CW, STD, EVEN. If you choose EVEN it takes longer to overheat. Cheers, jeffrey

i would rather have a less powerful flash than to have a powerful one but dies easily..
if you only have one speedlight and this happens you will miss a lot of precious shots.

Hi Matt, I just tried the same test and my SB-900 can do 41 flashes at full power in a row with 2500mAh Eneloops.

@MrNullifier you can't compare them without considering the over heating., the 900 is more powerful, bigger zoom range, now features and has a sync port

hey Matt, generally, how do you know when you to change the batteries for the flash? I just change them out every 250-300 shots or so.

@schumionbike I charge before each big shoot - otherwise as their performance/recycle gets slow.

I've had my SB900 crashed on me recently at an outdoor event shoot for the first time. Was around 2-3 in the afternoon where the sun was just blazing. Had it on 1/4 power to provide some fill, died after about 100 shots. But the thing is,i've done another event which was indoors at night (much much cooler) was blasting away the entire night at 1/4, got about 300 over shots and never overheated. It had me thinking "bah..all this talk about it overheating, so not true"...until it happened later on.

@ktckeat Yeah - I have tested in cool environs, and mine overheats pretty consistently at 20 full power shots. I hear it may vary between models - some that own several say that one is less likely to overheat... this really makes it sound like a manufacturing issue, if they are not all the same.
