Norman Finkelstein Interview with Frank Barat: BDS Campaign | Imperial College London [09-02-2012]

Here is Mr. Finkelstein's interview with Frank Barat in which he discusses the Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) Campaign.

This interview was taken at Imperial College London where Professor Finkelstein was scheduled to give a lecture on "How to Solve the Israel-Palestine Conflict."

The event was hosted and organized by the Political Philosophy Society (PPS) at Imperial; a student led initiative at the College to bring up a host of important political issues to the discussion table at campus.

inspections of israeli nuclear plants.sanctions on israel for breaking international laws with e.g settlements/separation wall/torture/unlawful arrests and detention of minors. prosecute israeli warcriminals after the many times (gaza invasion 2008/2012) they have commited war crimes. Send international observers and troops to Gaza and the westbank, Jerusalem aswel to protect the civillians who live there. inforce the laws on weapon trade to a occupying power. and thats just for Israel...

I think the Soviet Union was a great organization and it's demise has put the U.N. (United Nations) in the direction of America more. But the U.N. itself is a good thing, not perfect.

Tell me some ACTIONS the U.N. could take that it didn't take?

you thjink its a great org, i dont. im for full democracy, your not. end of story. you cant even give me ONE thing they have done for the innocent civillians in the arab world in the last 10 years of american wars. that should (for a normal person) ring some alarm bells..

Well, Black Civil Rights' was a slow process. It began with ending slavery in 1865, then ending Segregation in 1964, and today it still continues.

The U.N. is not perfect, and it has not done enough. But I want you to understand two things: the Dissolution of the Soviet Union is part of the reason, and you can't judge the whole U.N. for it's resolution partitioning Palestine. The U.N. also has resolutions condemning Israel's Occupation past the Partition line.

i get whats your saying. but its not something i agree with. its like telling blacks in the US they should settle with not being slaves, be happy about not being equal to whites, not eat in the same places, not use the same bus etc.. be happy with every little crappy thing the master race gives you. sorry, but im not that kind of guy. i belive we are ALL equal, and deserve equal rights, if we settle for any less we sell ourselfs short as humanity.
