Club 40 pylon racing ( Advanced Class) at Harvest, Alabama 8-14-2010 using the Airborne Models Sky Raider Mach II airplane with the Thunder Tiger Pro 40 engine. The heat this day was absolutely brutal at over 100° but the good fun made up for some of that. The NARCA club ( North Alabama Radio Control Assoc) is a great place to fly since it is located on a private full scale landing strip and has some good folks there! The competition was fierce all day between all the pilots and lots of good close knit racing was at hand.
These planes can get up to appx 90 mph during the heat of the race.
The distance between the two pylons is 400 ft and up to 4 pilots are racing at the same time in a heat race for 10 laps around the pylons .
Everyone nicknamed this plane the Chick-Fill-A because of its color scheme-( its done that that way so that I can see the plane better while racing ) . Thanks to my spotter /lap counter Dave Phillips 3rd and to Frank Comer for shooting this video- it is appreciated.
Enjoy! ....Comments are welcomed.
