The funny thing is that even today the politicians from the Communist era and their Proteges running most of the Ex East Block Countries Except Poland and the Check Republic.Hungary just finally kicked out the Socialist Party from leading after decades of Corruption and Stealing but it's to late coz the National Debt is way exceeding what the Country can ever pay off,so they have to sell everything to Foreign Investors.
