Alrght! In this video I use my rig to illustrate how it can be applied to more 'heavy' tones.

ENGL Powerball - I got a message regarding using the XT in the FX loop of a ENGL Fireball. I dont really know about that, so I looked up a few ENGL videos and gave it a go!

BULB - This is the exact tone that Misha uploaded to sevenstring.org. If I rember it uses the 'Big Bottom' amp model.

Tripple Rectifier - This tone is ment to be close to the Meshuggah tone that was used on one of their albums...or one of their songs. I think I got it from sevenstring.org too.....

I came up with the riffs on the spot, so dont expect any Grammy nominations, but I tried to play similar things on all of the demos to give a fair test. I made sure I got in some 9th - think Andy Sommers on the Police tune, and Puff Daddy tune, I'll be missing you. I think that there is good note definition and that they ring 'true'.

The guitar used is my Custom Yamaha Eterna 'Chai'. The pickup is a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails. The tuning used was A, B, A, D, G#, B. This is like a 7 string but with what would be the low B dropped down to A. When I refere to the 'Diamond Plate' in the video this is me referencing the Mesa Boogie model on the POD.

On one of the chords that I play it goes a tad out of tune. I'm not used to playing a guitar this de-tuned!
This video was recorded with the same little digital camera that the majority of my videos have been. So if you want to comapre further then just get up another video and have a listen. I dont really play this sort of music very much, but I think that its very fun to play

  • @InhumanTom he has a marshall power amp too. it goes pre -> power -> cab

  • Can you post the specs for the Bulb tone? Or post the link to the info?

  • @BreakdownExplosion88 Why thank you!

  • Is this loud enough for a gig or rehearsal?

  • @InhumanTom There has to be a power amp before the cab in there.

  • So this is a POD XT plugged in to a cab and thats it ?

  • Chris I cant wait for that! I like to hear how other people use the pod....

    Chris

  • yeah its hard to get a bulb sound, because the amp model that he uses is initially very scooped and gainy sounding like you said. and it takes a hell of a lot of tweaking to get a more powerful midrange sound. im gonna post a video fairly soon of many amp models on the pod, including big bottom, so watch out

  • i was actually surprised when i heard the bulb preset

his tone was always dryer like the other two but that one sounds really gainy and kinda scooped

it could be the quality idk

  • to get the big bottom, as well as the ENGL, and many others, you have to purchase the metal shop addition
