@shaylafish The original sub versions are always the best. But if I had to choose the English dub, I guess I'd go with the original which was around the time that Mr. Miyazaki absolutely wanted everything translated. In some cases I had no idea what spirit they were talking about in the movie but still loved it anyways.

@Gibix Well yeah it is a matter of opinion. But changes to the original released version in the US is like changing history in my opinion. I go to school and study animation so...I don't take changes from one release to new changes by Disney in another release too lightly. There are people out there trying to seek the older versions because they will probably be lost. I mean, more than half of recent Ghibli followers are unaware that there are two English dubbed versions of My Neighbor Totoro

@shaylafish All that is matter of opinion. They're mostly suited for kids that want to clearly understand what the characters are saying. Some odd changes were made, but not too bad. Honestly I watch the original Japanese versions with sub. Nothing stops you from doing so as well.

@shaylafish The names of dust bunnies(soot sprites) was changed to soot gremlins. Many of the dialogue is horrid and I can't stand the Fanning voices. They even cut out parts on the new release in which the Catbus actually makes sounds.

@Gibix I disagree. The old dubbed versions are more nostalgic to those who watch them as a child. Take Kiki's Delivery Service for example...on the two-disc release they cut out a lot of dialogue that Jiji originally said. Watch and compare the VHS release to the two-disc release. The dialogue for Jiji is very minimal in the recent release, when the things Jiji said in the old version wasn't anything "out there" for a child to understand. In the new dubbed version of Totoro....

@shaylafish The old dubbed versions were fucking terrible! At least this guy is actually helping make sense of it all. But if everything was directly translated from Japanese, we wouldn't have a clue what some of the stuff they say (like regional or cult references from Japan).

John Lasseter ruins the Ghibli films by changing the dialogue from the old dubbed versions into the DISNEY RELEASE versions. Fucking fat ass faggot.

I would give him a huge hug 2 because he is a genius and my hero, I will say this politely if you decide to do another video like this ..Shut the fuck up!!..

If you're not gay for Miyazaki, then you don't love animation.
