Pierce County has a serious problem with street spam. Illegal signs by the thousands blight our other-wise attractive roadsides—in fact, a 55 sq mile illegal sign removal pilot program yielded in the removal of more than 4,000 illegal signs.
This practice, typically associated with those who've lost an animal or someone holding a yard sale, has been adopted as a main form of advertising by many in the real-estate and development industries in Pierce County. Despite clear knowledge of the laws, they continue to break them.
When responding, to citizens' inquiries the offenders seem to fall into two categories; those who insist they're somehow in the right, and those who claim ignorance of the law.
This educational piece was created to help them all understand the facts, for if they don't, their actions will continue to speak volumes for their integrity s individuals, as well as businesses and industry members.

Thank you for posting this. We need to focus more attention on this problem, as it's nationwide. Here in Austin, I've removed hundreds of signs, and the biggest offender here seems to be real estate companies.
