"Seranata" was written by Bryan Bonsor in Scotland expressly for the soprano recorder with piano accompaniment and is played by Jim Phypers. Jim also shares the highlights of his 48 year long love affair with the recorder which began when a college friend loaned him a soprano recorder and some music late one night in the dorm. Jim closed the door (they had private rooms back in those days, early 60's) and played this amazing little instrument all night long. Though Jim had played clarinet seriously since he was eight years old, the recorder became his instrument and his passion. He has not stopped in almost half a century working to play the recorder well and acquiring a big collection of instruments, music, and recordings. Jim has performed throughout the Western United States, Kauai, and New Zealand.

  • What a lovely performance Jim, an absolute pleasure to listen to. You are under-appreciated in this world.

Keep it up, you are a great entertainer, and a beautiful person.
