I'm trying to identify this antique violin; there are no labels/tags inside of the body. Bow is simply stamped "Germany" and is octagonal at the Frog end but round everywhere else. Bridge is stamped "LE". I'm guessing that the tell-tale sign is the silver plate at the tail end of the case, which probably bore the name at some point but is now completely faded/worn down to silver. There have never been any labels/stickers/stamps inside of the body. There are some very crude/primitive features, such as the tone holes, etc....
Can anyone I.D. this fiddle?

  • Sorry, what I should have said is the the bow is stenciled/carved (not stamped) "Germany" near the frog.

  • I have the same one, different case. I would also like to know where it came from.
