While watching an episode of "The Prisoner", called "The General", I heard a familiar sound. The computer's encoder, which looks like an old copy machine, was making a noise similar to the sounds heard during the intro to Pink Floyd's "Welcome To The Machine".
Upon further study, I realized that the theme of the show also paralleled the theme of the song. In another episode, called "A, B and C", a machine is used to observe and control the dreams of No. 6 (Patrick McGoohan).
I know that the song is supposed to be about the "music industry", but I can't help but feel that Roger Waters may have been inspired, or at least influenced, by one or more episodes from "The Prisoner".
I've just seen this episode and had the same thought. That's why I'm here :)
Be seeing you

The sound effect for the magma elevator in the game 'Seiklus' was taken from the start of this song.
